Eye Care

Eye Care encompasses the full spectrum of conditions, diseases, and preventive practices related to the health of the eyes and vision — one of the most vital and complex sensory systems in the human body. Vision problems affect an estimated 93 million adults in the United States, yet only half report having visited an eye doctor in the past 12 months, making eye care one of the most underpracticed areas of preventive health in the country. The range of conditions managed under eye care is broad: from common refractive errors like nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism, to chronic diseases like glaucoma, age-related macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy — which together represent the leading causes of preventable blindness in adults — to inflammatory conditions, cataracts, dry eye disease, and rare genetic disorders of the retina and optic nerve. Many serious eye conditions develop silently, with no pain or noticeable vision changes until significant and often irreversible damage has occurred, which is why routine comprehensive eye exams are a cornerstone of both eye health and overall systemic health — often revealing early signs of diabetes, hypertension, and neurological disease. With advances in imaging technology, gene therapy, anti-VEGF biologics, and minimally invasive surgical techniques, the ability to detect, treat, and in many cases preserve vision has never been greater — making access to quality eye care more important than ever.
